IMPHAL | Sept 12
Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) said that there are no books in Meitie Mayek available for Manipuri subject to be studied in the ongoing first semester of the academic session 2017 – 18, causing many difficulties to the students studying the subject.
A release said that directorate of education (U), directorate of Language planning and implementation, Manipur University and the publishers who had received the copy rights to publish the books ought to take responsibility for causing the inconveniences.
Those publishers who are making the books unavailable out of their own vested interest are taken in a serious note and strongly condemn by DESAM, it said. The student body considers it as denying the rights of the students and will seek the help of law to bring a solution, it added.
DESAM appealed to the language directorate, directorate of education (U) and the publishers to come together and make the books available at the market, it added.
