Khuga Battalion celebrated 71st Independence Day with the locals of the area near Indo-Myanmar border. The celebration was aimed to bring the people closer to the army and to rejuvenate the spirits of nationalism in the remotest villages of Manipur.
The main function was held at the border village of Hiangtam Khunou, where villagers from neighbouring villages took part in the festivities. The national flag was unfurled by chief of Hiangtam Khunou, Kiminthang, followed by national anthem sung by the soldiers and villagers. During the celebration, weapon display and medical health camp were also organised.
An informative lecture on Aadhaar card, PAN card and government schemes were given to the villagers and an announcement was also made about army recruitment rally to be conducted on October 3. The event culminated with a friendly volleyball match between the troops of Khuga battalion and villagers.
