Tobacco products worth Rs 2.10 lakh seized

The Imphal West traffic police today seized tobacco products worth around Rs. 2,10,000 in black market while these were illegally transported in the heart of the city.

According to a source, the traffic police team lead by Imphal West traffic police DSP, Ng. Rattana at Khuyathong traffic island found at van carrying huge quantity of banned tobacco products during checking of vehicles at around 2.30 pm.

The traffic team identified the owner of the tobacco products as one Pankaj Gupta (38) son of Ram Ahrodhiya Gupta from Sanapara, Bihar and presently residing at Bishnupur bazar. Police said that Pankaj revealed that he hired the van for transporting the tobacco products from Bishnupur and unloaded then at North AOC, Dimapur parking.

Later the driver and the owner of the van along with the seized tobacco products were handed over to the City police and a case has been registered.
