Two bridges damaged in Kpi

Chalkot bridge, which connects Saparmeina with Saikul has been damaged very badly by the strong current of the stream and the bridge has been closed to traffic to avoid any unwanted incidents. One suspension bridge located at Saparmeina, which connects with Mongbung village and some other villages of Saikul Sub-Division has also been washed away completely. The water level of the streams rose due to heavy rains.
One villager identified as Paominlal Sitlhou (32 yrs) s/o Lunsat Sitlhou of Khaochangbung village of Saikul Sub-Division, falling under Kangpokpi P.S. was swept away by the heavy current of Imphal River near Keithelmanbi village yesterday and his body cannot be traced.
