Sir,
Kudos to Mamata Banerjee for meeting the 'Iron Lady' Irom Sharmila during her Manipur visit and also demanding removal of the dreaded AFSPA ("Mamata dashes to meet Sharmila, pledge total removal of AFSPA", 26 January).
When the political brigade try to stay a safe distance away from Sharmila for her "audacity" of questioning the policies of the State, when the "nationalistic" Indians try to display their "patriotism" by providing stauch support to AFSPA; Banerjee, despite being a principal ally of the Union Government and holding a Constitutional post, has dared to swim against the mainstream and chosen to support the truth.....

KSO GHQ had communicated to the Hon’able CM of Manipur through an OPEN LETTER their opinion on the prevailing tense political drama in the State caused largely by both the Central/State Govt adopting a communal line of approach in dealing with the issues, thereby knowingly/unknowingly creating unnecessary confusion and communal tension all around. The local press is rife with opinions which are clearly communal in nature adding more fuel to the communal fire that could possibly lead to a disastrous situation for all the communities living in the State.....

Hon’able Sir,
KSO Manipur had earlier issued a press release on the prevailing tense political drama in the State. Among other things, we had clearly stated that the SHDDC demand is not communal in nature, but some Naga bodies and the State Govt are intent on making it a communal issue leading to outrageous communal statements being leveled against the Kuki community which KSO has taken very seriously, necessitating a clarification (albeit reluctantly) on ‘communal lines’ by KSO
The State Govt is squarely to be blamed.....
