IMPHAL, May 17: Troops of 1/11 Gorkha Rifles under the aegis of Red Shield Division apprehended two persons suspected to be ex-cadres of HPC (D) from Khomoi village in Churchandpur district today, stated a PIB release.

The two were later identified as Sangzuol, 33, son of Lala of New Saikot and John Lal Kiemlo, 32, son of Hmangthnlien of Khomoi village, the release said.....

Cocaine seized

IMPHAL, May 17: The Narcotics Cell of Imphal West Police led by OC Th Shanti seized one kilogram of cocaine from the possession of one person at Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai today at around 11:30 am.

The peddler has been identified as Md Khayamuddin, 36, son of Zahauddin of Thoubal Moijing Awang Leikai.....

MES approved

IMPHAL, May 16: The state Cabinet today approved the institution of a Manipur Education Service (MES) cadre with an aim to usher in good governance in school education.

According to sources, the government move is aimed at school education administrators like Zonal Education Officers, Deputy Inspectors of Schools (DIs) and Assistant Inspectors of Schools (AIs) which are manned by teachers on deputation.....

KNF to release book

IMPHAL, May 16: SoO signatory Kuki National Front, KNF will release a book titled Kukiland (The Land of Kukis) during its silver jubilee celebration on May 18 at Cmap Ebenezer, Sadar Hills.

According to a release of the militant outfit, the book published by the Department of Information and Publicity, KNF is about the historical trajectory of the Kukis and their contribution in India’s Independence movement and the beginning of the Kuki armed movement by KNF founder (L) Nehlun Kuki in the late 1980s with the sole objective for the formation of a separate administrative unit proposed to be called Kukiland within the Indian Union.....

ZUF bans tribal councils
