The Board of Secondary Education, Manipur has notified today to all concerned that the last date of registration for external and supplementary candidates for HSLC examination, 2018, has been extended upto November 10. There will be a fine of Rs.100 per candidate, irrespective of categories.

At the welcoming ceremony organised by Advisory Committee Top Chingtha, the newly elected member of Tulihal zilla parishad, Kongbam (O) Inaocha Devi, the pradhan of Top Chingtha gram panchayat, Yumnam Tomba and up- pradhan of Top Chingtha gram panchayat, Sanjenbam (O) Shakcha Devi along with seven panchayat members were honoured by presenting simple gifts.

AR pays homage to martyr

Rifleman, (Late) Narengbam Suresh Kumar Singh was remembered and paid homage by of 24 Assam Rifles today at Wangjing Secondary School, Thoubal district. The rifleman had lost his life in a counter insurgency operation at Chandel on April 6, 2013. A release said, the officials of 26 Assam Rifles, family members of Narengbam Suresh and the teaching staff and students of Wangjing Secondary School paid floral tributes and lauded the honourable service of the martyr for the nation.

AISGEC solidarity

Manipur unit of All India State Government Employees Confederation extended its support to the public officials who took a mass casual leave on October 25 in demand of immediate implementation of the seventh pay commission for state government employees.  General secretary of AISGEC Manipur Dr E Girani Singh asked for an immediate revocation of the government’s suspension order against five state government employees for taking part in the leave.

San Images Frontier, France has awarded the Photography distinction AISF from Associate-ship of San Images to the secretary of Images of Manipur, Jinendra Maibam.

A release said, the photography distinction was given for the first time to a person from the northeast India. Jinendra Maibam is now qualified to become a jury of International Photo circuit and salon (photo contest).

On the other hand, the first Manipur Sangai International photo contest or digital salon 2017 has been given approval by five international photography bodies, said the release.

It said, application should be made online and the judging shall take place in Kolkata. The theme of the contest will be ‘Monochrome, Colour Nature and Photo Travel Section’. The first Manipur Sangai International Digital Salon is supported by School of Fototechnik, New Delhi, it added.

Nupi Marup observes annual conference

The All Manipur Nupi Marup Khurai Area has observed its annual conference today at Khurai Sajor Leikai where issues regarding corruption were discussed.

A release said, the meeting has reported about the items provided under national food security act were not made available to the card holders of Khurai area for 13 months. It was resolved that the public shall take extreme measures against the government if the pending rice is not distributed to the card holders, it said. A council of 45 female members was created in the meeting, it added.

Biswajit fetes hockey player K. Chinglensana

Information and Public Relations Minister  Thongam Biswajit  Singh today feted Kangujam Chinglensana , the lone player from the State to play in the Indian Hockey team in the recently held Hockey Asia Cup which was held at Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Indian team won gold in the tournament after 10 years.

The simple felicitation programme was held at the Minister’s New Secretariat Office chamber this evening. In the recent tournament, Chinglensana scored the winning goal against arch rival Pakistan and was adjudged Man of the Match.

Presenting a memento and a traditional shawl to the star Manipur player, Minister Biswajit wished Chinglensana all success for his future.

Chinglensana, who hails from Bashikhong Wangkhei Loumanbi, made his debut for the Indian team in 2012. He started playing from Bashikong Meira Club.

UG cadres arrested

One active cadre of KCP (People War Group) and KCP (MJC) each were arrested in search operations conducted over the last two days, said a release from Police PRO.

A team of 5 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles and Bishnupur District Police Commando arrested Yumnam Meeyai Singh alias Premchand, 37, an active KCP (People War Group) member from Wabagai bazar. A demand letter from KCP (People War Group) and incriminating articles were found in his possession.

Investigations revealed that he had been involved in serving demand letters to private schools and businessmen in Wangbai area. A case has been registered against him at Hiyanglam police station.

Another team of 26 Assam Rifles and Thoubal District Police Commando arrested Md Aslam alias Majid, 28, an active KCP (MJC) cadre from Thoubal Bazar.  A demand letter from KCP (MJC) and incriminating articles were found in his possession.

A case has been registered against him at Thoubal police station.

Meeting on MEETAC held

Textiles, commerce & Industry Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh today chaired the first meeting on the establishment of  Mission For Economic Empowerment of Traditional Artisans/Craftsmen (MEETAC) at his official chamber at New Secretariat Building.

The main objective of the  mission is to attain the goal of self –Employment and Inclusive Development and Economic Empowerment to Traditional Artisans/ Craftsman of the state.

The meeting thorough discussed about market facility, faculty members needed for establishment of the mission and financial involvement etc.

Items which are to be covered under the mission are Textiles(handicrafts/handloom), pottery, cane and bamboo crafts, Jewellery (gold and non-gold),reed craft, stone & wood craving ,dolls & toys, block printing, terracotta, hand Embroidery ( zari  etc) and tribal arts/crafts etc. The duration of the mission is three years.

The meeting was attended by principal secretary of Textiles, Commerce & Industry  shri  P. Vaiphei, Director of Handloom & Textiles Lamlee Kamei, officials of Commerce and Industry, Finance and planning department.

KCB clarifies that their data is correct

Kangleipak Calendar Board (KCB) today said that the organisation has clarified that there was no mistake in the English Manipuri Apunba Calendar 2018 published earlier and said that it was a printing mistake.

Sanjit Soraisam, secretary of the KCB said that the already published calendar has all scientific data of the lunar cycle and that the frequent mention of Enga-Engen was a printing mistake.

He was clarifying on the post that went viral in social media recently when Ibu Khwairakpa Koubru Mangang, on October 24 uploaded a picture of English Manipuri Apunba Calendar 2018 complaining of many errors and blaming the KCB for giving wrong scientific data of lunar calendar.

Sanjit also said that the publisher of that calendar, R.K. Bikramjit has also apologised to the calendar board and that KCB has no errors in scientific data of the Thabal but was a printing mistake.

The secretary of the board also notified that the next edition of the said calendar will have the corrected data.
